The Rice Purity Test is provided for entertainment and self-reflection. It is a long-standing internet curiosity that people take out of interest, usually with friends, and that is the spirit in which it is offered here.

It is not an assessment, an exam, a screening tool, or a measure of anything about you. There is no pass mark, no target, and no correct set of answers. If you find the exercise interesting, that is the whole point of it. If you do not, there is no reason to finish.

The score is not a scientific personality test. The Rice Purity Test has never been validated by research, it is not a recognised psychological instrument, and it has no diagnostic value.

The scoring method is a single subtraction: one point is removed from a total of 100 for each question answered Yes. Every item is weighted identically, no matter what it asks, and no analysis of any kind is applied to the pattern of your answers.

Any figure you may see quoted online as an average score comes from informal, self-selected samples rather than reliable data, and should not be treated as a benchmark.

The score does not measure morality, character, intelligence, or personal worth. It is not a ranking, and the four ranges described on this site are descriptive labels rather than grades. None of them sits above another.

Because every question carries the same weight and nothing is verified, two people with an identical score may have answered Yes to completely different items, and the same person will often score differently at different stages of life. A change in score reflects time passing more than anything else.

Please do not use a score from this site to judge yourself, and please do not use it to compare, rank, pressure, or judge anybody else. Nobody is obliged to take the test or to reveal their result.

Some questions may discuss mature or sensitive experiences, including relationships, alcohol and substances, rule-breaking, and intimacy. A content notice appears before the questionnaire begins so that you know this in advance rather than discovering it part way through.

Taking part is voluntary from beginning to end. Any question can be skipped without affecting your result, and you can close the page at any point. Please continue only if you are comfortable with content of this kind.

This website is not directed at children. If any part of the questionnaire leaves you feeling upset or troubled, please stop and speak to a doctor, a qualified mental health professional, or another trusted person. This website cannot offer support of that kind and is not a place to look for it.
